Days fall like the grains in a sand clock
Most without even a text from those that I love,
I often think about all those lost opportunities
To share a laugh or some thought from above.
The current flows ever swifter still
Around each bend I dare not look what's there,
I count the years so many now
Scary numbers and no one cares.
I have to wonder how will I feel
When I celebrate one million years?
When I look back at what was concealed
Or will I just break out in tears?
I see each one has their own life to live
Sometimes blessed sometimes forlorn,
Who am I to question our Sustainer
He has numbered my days and the one I was born.
Out of the depths did He make me
And to Him will I return
Yet while I walk the earth I see
I still have more to learn.
